Ladder
Ladder play is held online and
is a way of ranking players or teams. When you win a game in a
ladder you move up a 'rung' in the rankings. When you lose you
move down. Your goal is to get to the top rung of the ladder.
Ladders are very competitive and
are an exciting way to experience playing Links
online. Check out the Ladders
section of the Country Club!
Ladders vs. Tournaments
Ladders are
usually ongoing and your goal is to reach the top of the
ladder, or leader board, and remain there. In a tournament,
you play a set number of rounds for a specific period of time
and play is geared toward a real-life golf tournament.

MOPs
MOP or Mode of Play is the type of
game played when you start a new game in Links. If
you are familiar with Stroke play, then you already know how
to play one of the MOPs. Other MOPs include Stableford, Match
Play, and Skins.
Links comes standard with a multitude of MOPs. You
can find MOPs by starting a new game, then click on the Change
button under the Rules section of the New Round screen. You
can download even more MOPs from the Links Community. Look in
the Downloads
section of the Country Club.
Note: In order to install a MOP in
Links 2003 you need to copy the MOP file into the
following folder: c:\documents and settings\All

Online Play
There are a few ways to
play online. First is Direct Connect, where one to eight
players connect via the Internet and play a single game.
Connections are usually made from a game matching service such
as Zone.com. Second is the
Online Tournament,
where you play numerous rounds in a golf tournament format
that you might see on TV. Depending on the tournament, rounds
can be played by yourself, head-to-head, or in a team. And
third, there are Ladders. Ladder play is a way of ranking
players or teams. When you win a game in a ladder you move up
a 'rung' in the rankings. When you lose you move down. Your
goal is to get to the top rung of the ladder. Ladders are very
competitive and are an exciting way to experience Links
online.
